Local Energy Board set up in Andalusia

2 Dec

Last November 29th, the first step of the H2020 Empowering project in Andalusia culminated its first phase with the signing of the Local Energy Board (LEB) agreement to promote the exchange of information and experiences on integrated energy, sustainable urban mobility, land use planning and innovative financing solutions.

Currently, the Andalusian Local Energy Board has the participation of ten Andalusian municipalities, actively involved in policies and measures in above matters. These are: Arahal, Armilla, La Palma del Condado, La Puebla de Cazalla, La Rinconada, Montilla, Morón de la Frontera, Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, Salobreña and Sanlúcar la Mayor. In addition, regional stakeholders are involved in the LEB.

Following the project work programme, the assessment of capacity building needs and good practices by each LEB member has started. From its analysis, the best practices and projects of the region that could be examples to other regions will be established. Potential improvements will be also identified to overcome the administrative and technical barriers faced by public authorities in order to implement measures and strategies to reduce GHG emissions and to minimize the climate change effects.
